Worth the Wait.

Dear JBD Friends,

This July, we will be celebrating our 35th Anniversary! Time flies WAY too fast if you ask me. There's so much to do, so many designs and orders,

but as you know, we make sure that all your pieces are made well front and back, inside and out.

It starts out with the sketch, then the stones are chosen for that particular design.

The goldsmith gets to handle it first. He makes the mounting carefully, sometimes making mould after mould until he gets it right. In the next step, the piece goes to the polisher for the initial polishing stage. It is then given to the stone setter where all the gems are carefully fit and mounted. When that's done, it is in the hands of the polisher for the final cleaning. It may sound easy but one piece may take weeks at the goldsmith's masterful hands. Sometimes, even months.

When it is done, a lot of oooohs and aaahhhss are usually said in the factory before sending it to the stores. This is a brooch with Tanzanites, Gray Spinels and diamonds in 18 karat white gold. It is designed by Ginny, my sister-in-law.

It took a bit more than a month to finish this piece but I think it was worth the wait.
